Priscilla Mouritzen - 1000 Bowls

This photo is from an exhibit of PriscillaMouritzen's work in Denmark. As I understand it, the show consisted of 1000 hand-pinched bowls, made in the course of a year, and decorated according to her feelings, to somewhat approximate a diary in clay. (I have assigned beginning students a "take-off" of this project. I have them make multiples of the same form, either hand-pinched or thrown, and then to decorate them with subtle differences, somewhat as Priscilla has done. I've had students tell me they loved this assignment, and I've had some very good results.)
