KUNMING |

Kunming is a lovely city in Yunnan Province, in what I would describe as south central China. (However, it is usually described in guidebooks as the southwest of China.) I don't know what I expected, but I was very pleasantly surprised by a lovely climate, comfortable, inexpensive

hotel (Kunming Camellia Hotel), and most of all, a modern, very pretty, clean, orderly city! I've posted these photos mostly to show what is happening almost all over China these days. I first traveled there in 1988, and have returned often in the years since. The changes are nothing short of breathtaking! One of my students had been in Kunming only a couple of years earlier, and she said she would not recognize it from these pictures!
