Within a semester or two of learning to throw, Scott decided he wanted to make a pot large enough to get into. These photos are various attempts and the final product. As I remember, the pot on the top left is the same one as the finished pot. The pot directly to the left doesn't look like the same one, but it does show how he made large pots, putting two units, thrown separately, together. The photos above and to the right demonstrate his success in getting into his pot, even though it took help.

I was on sabbatical in 1992-1993, and Scott sent me several photos of the work he was doing, including the teapot to the left. I don't have the exact measurements, but the one I own from this series is about 22 inches high. In 1995, after he had finished his BA at the Kansas City Art Institute, he returned to Napa for one year, to further develop his skills before going on the graduate school. During that period, we had a workshop for current students given by three ex-students (Scott Parady, Karen Winograde, and Lois Tselentis) who were either already working at a professional level, or moving in that direction. The picture at the right was taken when Scott was demonstrating.
